91mph in a 50 limit -90 day ban and £350 fine, £2300 costs

91mph in a 50 - is 90 day ban enough?

There are literally thousands of places now 50-limited, once unlimited, where a competent driver in the right car can hit 91 and a lot more in perfect safety. I don't expect the speed-limit-is-the-law wonks to agree, but it is quite simply so. At one time you could do it legally. Now you only can if you have forgotten that snivelling carphounds operating disgusting cameras are all over the place like a damn disease, with so-called car enthusiasts licking their bums.

Lampard was a bit incautious in my book (of course I haven't seen the place or his driving, but he's still alive isn't he?). Poor chap.

I have. Both as it happens

They have recently shifted the 50MPH limit back down the A3 about 1/2 mile. He was unlucky to get caught, there is rarely a camera van there (there is on the southbound carriageway tho), and I always bust that limit by at least 20mph till you approach the Claygate 50mph camera.

I nearly got caught by the camera van they sneakily place 200 yards AFTER the camera, and just invisible round the bend.

The 50mph limit on the A3 from there into London is prudent and warranted.

Hmmm. Some such places exist, indeed locally the A4500 could still be 70 rather than 40. But it's slated for development on both sides and once all that's in place 40 might be right; only the recession has stopped things.

OTOH in most instances the reason for the 50 is pretty evident. It's about mitigating the consequences when others screw up or the driver hitting 90 is incompetent and in the wrong car.

Road needs to be pretty quiet as well doesn't it? Not a good idea I would have thought if road is full of your average motorist mimsing along at half that speed.

Do we know what time of the day he was caught?
