Well I always get past LHD trucks as quickly as possible, or if I'm on a three lane motorway I'll give them an extra lane's distance if it's available.

Maybe 110's a bit rich, but I'm pretty sure I'm always over 70 when I do it. This was especially true when driving our old Smart Roadster.

I've coached the wife to look out for foreign lorries and do the same.

Hmmm. I can see how a quick squirt of the throttle in one of those could accelerate it from a cruising speed of 90mph up to 110 in the course of overtaking a lorry, but he must have already had the attention of the police beforehand IMO.

When I'm overtaking a left-hooker I read the road ahead for any obstacles or changes to the road layout that might give rise to an unexpected lane-change from the lorry, and only pass when I'm as sure as can be that the driver will maintain their course for the duration. And I never pass them on roundabouts.
