Tried to put some air in the MiL wheelchair but without success - perished tube although I thought maybe the BP inflator connection was iffy.
Chap comes up with his '54 Espace and tries it - he had 10lbs in tyre 1 and 15lbs in tyre 2 - "I've got 2 slow punctures and I just pump them up to 34lbs every week - I cannot afford the 2 x new tyres.
1.5 tonnes of metal at say 70mph could be heading your way with flat tyres - 2 remoulds seem a much cheaper way out than an crash but then again "he did not quite seem to appreciate the danger IMHO"

If he can't afford replacement tyres (or a puncture repair!) he can't afford the thing...

Dont worry, its an Espace, the engine will explode any day now.

I don't mind him killing himself;it's other people that I worry about!

He might not even need to replace the things. It's ridiculous.
Had a similar problem on the Golf GTI on an otherwise immaculate Michelin Primacy. The tyre was actually fine, and the valve was leaking. Sorted by our friendly mobile tyre fitter for a fiver.

Tell him to check the valves by squirting washing-up liquid on them. They're cheap enough - see the previous post.

Get a valve key and tighten the valve core.
They do sometimes work themselves loose.
If I needed valves cores I would go to a tyre place and blag a couple.
There's unlikely to be anything wrong with the stem, if it's just leaking around the core.

To check that they are seating properly, all you need is a bit of spit on your finger to apply to the valve.
