That Bridge is in Uxbridge over the Grand Union Canal. My childhood stomping grounds. Happy memories.

Indeed that was Uxbridge.
Most of that extract was filmed in Beaconsfield New Town, The viaduct is just outside Beaconsfield, and the airfield was of course Denham.

I know ALL those places VERY well!

Seems the film was made at Beaconsfield studios...

Its a good film yes.

If you like films like that, Suggest "Robbery" a 1960s film about the great train robbery starring Stanley Baker.

Loads and Loads and shedloads of 60s cars in that.

Also, Hell is a City. Filmed in Manchester and on the Holmfirth moors in 1959. Stanley Baker as Det Insp Martineau. Warren Mitchell as a rep who finds the girl's body at the side of the A635......driving a white '56ish Oxford/Cambridge.

Donald Pleasance, Billie Whitelaw and a host of well known facws of the period.

Thanks Ted, remember it now, I will get a copy.

I have a bit of a thing for 60's British, specially in monochrome. A much underrated period of film.

Saturday Night and Sunday Morning is gritty genius.

>>>Saturday Night and Sunday Morning is gritty genius.

Studied that in 6th form eng lit. I remember some girls were kept out of lessons involving that book as it was thought too racy by their parents. Oh how times have changed.

Another good Manchester monochrome...A taste of honey, 1961.
Dora Bryan, Robert Stevens and Rita Tush.

I watch it, and HIACity now and again.
I knew lots of places in the film....at the time !

I interesting one for me is from HIACity. Shot in the yard at Bootle Street police station with the black Velocettes and the black J type divisional vans. The vans were still in use when I joined in'63. Superceded by B plate J4s a year later.

I've got them on VT. I've got most of the Ealing Comedies, British War films and the like from the Daily Mail offers....collect vouchers and just pay the postage...bargain for a 16 DVD set. Lark Rise is on offer this week.
