Fairly momentous news today that Bentley is to bring out its first diesel in its 92 year history. Having always claimed its wealthy clients were not interested in oil burner-powered cars, the boss of VW Group now says: "You will see diesels at Bentley." Apparently the marque believes the move could boost Europe sales as well as improving economy and emissions. Even so, Bentley buyers in China and North America (two of its most important markets) still prefer petrol power, the company admits. According to the Daily Telegraph today, Bentley will use diesel engines in its saloons, not sports cars such as the Continental GT.

Lamborghini next, I guess. They are owned by VAG aren't they?
Well, my consolation is I'll never own one.

The things a boat, would be surprised if they fitted a pair of Volvo Pentas.

I thought diesel was going to disappear in a few years as the emissions control required becomes increasingly expensive?

they will put a smaller engine in the boot to make it euro 9 1/2 compliant probably

I'm sure there was a R8 V10 TDi knocking around at Audi at sometime but I think it was canned when it unexpectedly caught fire.
