Do people say a Bentley isn't a proper Bentley because it's got the underpinnings of a 7 series BMW? ...or an Audi isn't any good because it shares stuff with VW/Seat/Skoda? The X Type had 18% of the Mondeo...and the Mondeo was/is a good car anyway...then when you factor in how well Jag do the wood/leather bit, inc in the X Type, what's the issue? The X-Type drives differently, more Jaguar-like, than the Mondeo. I remember listening to an American Jaguar executive, who had obviously come over from Ford. He said the designers had put 'Jaguar-ness' into the X-Type. Except he pronounced it: 'Jagwar-ness'. Reply to this message | Report message

Jagwar is how they say it where Jaguars come from:) We mangle many names: Trafalgar, Himalaya, Nike etc. But I'd stick to natively-mangled Jaguar in't pub, not that I go very often. Reply to this message | Report message
