very nice
tell him to give it a squirt of east start next time it has starting problems though
dont you just love running engines with their headers off and give em full welly and watch the flames and hear the noise, stops the cars on the main road sometimes on a boring saturday afternoon when the airbag deployement fun has gotten boring
next week its welding up fuel tanks with only a fairy liquid bottle to put out the flames

Been done.

Ugly as sin...

Yes agree Ugly as sin.
But not the engine & what British car could be modified to fit that lump in?
In other words which one is long enough in the engine bay to house the Merlin?
|
There was someone in the fifties who had made a 4wd Merlin-engined spaceframe job, no bodywork to speak of, using I believe Jeep transmission parts. He used to campaign it in the Brighton speed trials, sort of drag racing British-style. I don't think it was hugely successful.
Swandean Special? Some name like that but I could have got it wrong.

use a Google search fot the beast merlin
Lots of hits to view.

There's a rover sd1 knocking about with a merlin in the engine bay (and most of the passenger compartment too).

On a totally different scale, it is unlikely you will find another one like this.

Aye that's the one Henry. I read it's been MOT'd and on the road now.
Wonder how many lampposts to the tank in that thing. Worth it though. A proper engineering hero.

With the huge radial engine, there was absolutely no visible torque reaction when the motor was blipped according to the sound track. At no point did the car with the radial engine move in any way at all. Fake.
The car on the road didn't have a radial engine.

Try this for a better power to weight ratio..... ;-)
