Ha, those people, so unlike our own dear country - no real concern about what's going to happen until the train is almost on them, and even then, they are only just getting out of the way - it was like a slo-mo film.

There's one off the linked clips is even more upsetting. A guy spread over an oil tanker after touching the wires, on fire but still alive.

There's multiple deaths on the tracks per day in Mumbai. The train is stopped, the body recovered from under and laid at the side, the train continues and the driver radios in the location.

I can't get my head around the idea that with so many needless deaths on full view, people continue to put themselves in harms way constantly.

That clip's been doing the rounds for yonks.

Every year dozens of French people are killed in collisions with trains on half-barrier level crossings. They just don't seem to get the idea that sometimes you have to wait. There's a level crossing near me with a sign that says 'don't stop here unless you can get away quickly'.
Mind you, in the last few weeks I have frequented a level crossing in Italy on a busy main line and you would not believe what I have seen. And these nutters are our partners in the European Union.

...And these nutters are our partners in the European Union...

For the time being (hopefully).

Having seen someone do three-point turn on a level crossing on the mainlne thro' Essex,I can only despair. It's even one with an underpass for cars so he could have continued and come back under the railway.

Essex you said.

I'll be honest and say that I didn't watch that second clip, I looked at the beginning and could guess the rest, as part of my job I could come across that sort of stupidity so see no reason to watch it when relaxing at home! People don't realise just how far 25000v can jump, especially in the wet, we had a kid who was zapped when on top of a station building getting his ball back last year... and I've lost track of the number of times I've had to tell parents to shorten the string on their kids balloon when walking down the platform at New Street... super conductors are helium balloons on string!

As for level crossings... stupid motorists deserve all they get if a train hits them, its the Train Driver, other rail staff and the Emergency Service people I feel sorry for having to pick up the mess afterwards.

Yes i agree that link was a bit distastefull it should be shown at schools to frighten kids and show them what will happen in goods yards when they climb on top of a train.!!

25kv boils the blood in less than a second.

just like cars with heads through the windscreens should be shown at school too to all these kids who think its cool to borrow dads car and go cruising in the wee hours
i walked back from a party last saturday night took us a good hour to get home, last thing on my mind was 15 year old kids driving over the speed limit in cars they shouldnt be in and no driving skills

so i had no problem with your linky Bigtee

I don't have a problem with the link, either, just couldn't see any point in watching it when I could become involved in the real thing... The OP's should be mandatory viewing for those living in the far north of Scotland and other places where they regularly jump level crossings...
