has it been checked whether any americans can actually get in one of these?
i like the comment at the end of the piece
>>>>"Buying a Fiat 500 is a lifestyle statement," according to Mr Marchionne.
Though whether it is a lifestyle that will suit the Americans is far from clear.<<<<<<<<

They'll use 'em as door stops. The two we had here at the end of last year wouldn't fit.

It will be slightly larger, but thats only due to larger bumpers.
It is being produced in the Fiat / Chrysler factory in Mexico
|
I think it could be a sucess as Americans prefer smaller cars these days, but the 500 may still be too small for them. The main issue is they have to convince the Americans that FIAT no longer rust.
|
I guess it needs to be sold as 1-seater with steering in middle (like McLaren F1)
:o)
|
I have a great advertising campaign for FIAT:-
"FIAT 500 $10500, now that is an incentive to go on a DIET! You obeese burger obsessed people."
Could that back fire?
|
i think that's a little too polite for them.
you could plastic wrap the 500 to look like a burger and they'd eat it
|
I do hope their ambassador isn't shown this thread. ;>)
|
oh no. maybe he'll petition my mother to come and admonish me.
but the americans could are too feckless and lazy to get out of their cars
|
at least we now know where all the auto gearboxes destined for pandas are going
|
My friend from Minnesota, who lives in the UK, drives a Fiat 500 and loves it. She fits into it just fine.
I think I will direct her to all your anti-American comments and see what she has to say.
Remember what has just happened to the Top Gear boys after they slagged off the Mexicans.

go away you silly man.
its still a free country and it seems like your american friends you dont posses a sense of humour
