I dont want to hijack SFD's thread though he remined me.
The pair of Michelin Pilot Sports I had on the front of the ST wore on the inside, despite the alignment being correct, and lasted 16k.
The current Goodyear Efficiencythingys have done 16k, have worn evenly and have at least 50% of the tread left.
The rears have pretty much followed suit.
A massive difference in wear between two similar tyres.

Odd.
Why would one type of tyre wear unevenly when another type would not? I would have thought that both would have the same wear pattern.
I'm interested in this, by the way, because I've had a problem with tyres wearing on the inside - irrespective of brand. Other than incorrect alignment, what are the reasons why tyres might wear faster on the inside?

Tyre pressure, alignment, something bent after a kerb hit. There's other stuff too I guess but probably be other symptoms like steering.

The point is that the alignment etc has not been changed, i.e. the Michelin's wore on the inside and the Goodyears haven't on the same settings.

I would argue a decent tyre fitter would notice the wear on the originals and correct the tracking error after fitting the new tyres. (and forgot to charge for it).
Either that, or is it possible for the originals to be badly fitted to the rims?
( a long time ago we had a problem with a new car pulling quite badly under acceleration, this was "fixed" by swapping the front tyres).

my cars been pulling slightly to the left for about 4 years now, but since a puncture after a visit to the local tip ( i hate it when that happens)
i put the spare on and it drives as straight as an arrow now

No, it was checked and not adjusted.
Also the previous set of Michelin's exhibited the same charateristics.

Have you got a chip on both shoulders?
