MINI MINI Cooper Diesel R56 - belt or chain? - Pat
I was told my wife's 2008 Cooper D was a chain cam, but looking on a few MINI forums the members seem to be divided on this one!

The service schedule in the handbook makes no reference to any belt replacements, but I thought some of you knowledgeable posters would confirm this one way or another.

Great car btw. My only gripe is a bit of road noise from the rear (it has 17" wheels and run flats so maybe this is inevitable).

Have a look at the engine.

According the the CBC its belt cam. Looks like later ones went to a chain.

Isn't this the PSA / Ford engine? In which case it is belt, and the change interval is 150k or something astronomical.
