The time has come to buy a Sat Nav. This will be for my wife's car for when she has to go to various parts of the country in connection with a new venture. She will not be using it very much and it will be more for finding places in towns rather than the route to the town itself.
We have no experience of buying sat navs since our family car has one built-in.
As this is for occasional use and is for a venutre we hope will make money we do not want to spend too much cash.
So, any recommendations for the make/model we should be looking at? We do not have an iPhone or similar fancy gadget that can have a sat nav downloaded for it.
Thanks

My wife has embraced a cheap tomtom, and finds it ideal for her
As a community outreach nurse, its used for specific address finding.

TomTom all the way for me
I find the interface very clear, and easy to use - the unit has been releiable (although the battery has given up the ghost, and requires to be plugged into the power port in the car), and its never sent me the wrong way or off a cliff.

Tom Tom reburbished units are excellent value if you're on a budget and customer support and the guarantee for their own reburbished units is excellent.

I have an old TomTom 500 and a much newer Garmin Nuvi 660 (badged as a BMW) for the bike. Tom Tom old and clunky as it is outclasses it. The original Garmin broke and was replaced under warranty - I was in France a the time, on the way to a B&B on the Somme - not the best time to let you down.

Basic Garmin or Tom Tom. Wouldn't buy any other brand. Personally I find the Garmin has a slightly simpler and more straightforward interface althoughTomTom will give you more "features" for your money.
TomTom Start or Garmin Nuvi 215 should do the trick - Should be able to get either under £100
