The publicity has not appeared to dampen the carmaker's popularity. It remains the world's biggest-selling producer, and its most recent profits, for the second quarter, had doubled compared with last year's.

It has been said that you learn more about a company when it has to handle a disaster than you learn in years of easy times.

It's only the Lexus that's affected, and since it doesn't say which variant it may only be one variant. There are other Toyota models available to maintain Toyota's popularity.

I imagine that a fair proportion of Toyota's customers aren't aware that Toyota make Lexus branded cars. The probably think Lexus is a different manufacturer.

I doubt it, it was the biggest news story in the states with TOYOTA blazoned all over it.

A very sad case and I've nothing but sympathy for the family.
I know we've touched on this before but why don't people just switch off or knock it into neutral...auto or manual ?

I asked SWMBO what she would do if I collapsed at the wheel and she hadn't a clue.
I told her about knocking it quickly into N and using the handbrake gently whilst steering.

We got onto the A6 north of Kendal and I said ' We'll do a test collapse on this section, I'll surprise you with it ' The look of horror was worth paying good money for !

I didn't, of course.
