The Mail's account refers to the bus being driven on the wrong side of the road. Maybe, just maybe, that had more bearing on the driver's decision to quit than the fate of the snowman. Seeing the fruits of a bit of energetic harmless fun had by kids of all ages makes the world go round, there's always a misery guts around though who can't stand a bit of fun. Think it was last winter i managed to slither off the A14 and worked round Ipswich on the old roads...coming back from Felixstowe standing proudly on the central reserve was a huge snowman those who had been stuck earlier had built, made oi larff. The snowman was in the middle of the carriageway. Hitting it would have damaged the cars most of us drive. I think the bus driver did everyone a favour by obliterating it, but he crossed the line, literally, when he crossed the line. Nothing would have been said had it been on his side of the road. It's amazing how the comments on the DM website basically follow whatever spin the article puts on it. Call it - "Bus driver forced to resign after 'brutal murder of snowman" - and most of the comments bang on about how ridiculous it is for him to have to resign because he ran over a snowman. Call it - "Maniac bus driver swerves across snowy carriageway trying to hit snowman" - and most of the comments would be calling for the death penalty. Sadly no such technology. I did though discover that it is possible to introduce a swear word in the middle of almost any and every other polysyllabic word and to do so without repetition, deviation from topic or hesitation for quite some considerable time.
