'Any colour as long as it's black ' was actually said by Francis Webb, Chief Mechanical Engineer of the London & North Western Railway after he had become overall chief.
Prior to that the company had two engineers...Northern section and Southern section, who turned out engines in different colours.....Red and green.
I just thought you might like to know that !.....but probably not !
Anal.....moi ?

...as does the Wiki page posted above:
"However in the first years of production from 1908-14 the Model T was not available in black but rather Grey, Green and Red."

There was selective reporting even in those days!!! It was reported that Henry said"History is Bunk";What he actually said was "If that is what history said, then History is Bunk".This just talking about a single item.

Pink or purple.
It all depends on the grip.

Henry Ford is one of the most misquoted men ever on the planet.
He did though, allegedly, once say 'Exercise is bunk - if you're healthy you don't need it and if you're ill you shouldn't take it'.
Always sounded sensible to me...

Henry Ford was reputed to employ people who went round the scrap yards checking old fords - the objective was to see which bits had not worn out as they could obviously be made cheaper!
