Caught 11:15pm last night.
Refused Breath Test
Kept in overnight @ local nick
Court today £400 fine, banned 12 months
Now more of that type of rapid justice for all offences might lead to a better UK.
What do you think?

I would have liked to see him banned for more than a year. Refusing a breath test should also carry a penalty for obstructing the police.

...caught lasrt night...court today...
When he sobers up, he'll probably want to plead not guilty.
|
For a man who held the record for expenses claims.. over £1 million - a £400 fine is chicken feed..
Maybe he'll claim it on expenses?
|
Strictly speaking there's no proof he was drunk. The conviction is for refusing the test.
Moddies my wish to amned the subject line accordingly.
Is he likley to be better, worse, or just differently off as a refuser rather than excess alcohol convict one he's behind the wheel again.
|
Reading between the lines seems he was very tired and emotional....
|
Nervous exhaustion.
Tour cancelled.

As overtired as a newt, as they used to say about George Brown

And who was George Brown? A relation of Gordon's?

...And who was George Brown? A relation of Gordon's?...
Don't think so, but he was certainly a drunk:

|
Not a relative but a known associate of Gordon's Gin
|
I actually saw GB's TV interview when he was tired and emotional.. It was Private Eye I think who coined the phrase or at least brought it into prominence at that time.
I doubt he drank Gordon's : their output would have been insufficient :-)
Morrisons sell 1.5 litres of gin (37% proof) for about £13 iirc.. That was his drinking style!

"Tired and emotional" was the excuse George himself used (or perhaps his solicitor on his behalf) to explain why his speech was slurred and he could hardly stand. The Eye then used the phrase to describe anyone who was one over the eight, often to avoid libel problems.
"Ugandan discussions" was similarly borrowed by the magazine to allude to illicit romping among the great and good, though I don't remember who originally used it as to explain why they spent the night in the flat of a member of the opposite sex.
|
"Ugandan discussions", or a variation thereof, is often used as a euphemism for illicit sex, usually while carrying out a supposedly official duty. The term originally refers to an incident at a party hosted by journalist Neal Ascherson and his first wife, at which fellow journalist Mary Kenny had a "meaningful confrontation" with a former cabinet minister in the government of Milton Obote, later claiming that they were "upstairs discussing Uganda"

Ex PM Gordon Brown is MP for Fife - Home of Gordon's London Gin - Cameronbridge Distillery + Leven Bottling plant - they make Grain whisky, Gin & Vodka.
What is the difference between Gin/Whisky/Vodka made there?- nothing it is grain spirit- its the additives that give it the flavours we all recognise and in the case of whisky maturing in sherry casks.
|
A £400 fine will be peanuts to him.

He'll probably claim it on his MP's expenses.
