I have an Ifor Williams 14'6" twin axle, and need to use it to collect some long ally lengths. But, my 2 large cars are SORN'd for the winter and stashed in the garage.
So that means I may take my chances with the old Skoda. The trailer weighs about 850kg empty, and the load will only be about 50kg. The V5 says I can tow 1000kg max, so legally it's ok. Even with the Landcruiser or the pickup you certainly know the trailer's there as it's heavy to tow and bangs about, yanking the back of the car with it.
So what will it be like with a 90hp (when new) engine and a light (1000kg) car?

Done something similar 15-odd years ago with a Maestro van (which a quick Google tells me had a kerbweight of around 1000kg). You'll certainly know the trailer's there but it won't be dangerous, just take it easy.

you wont even know its there ,those felicias were the last of the proper cars

I'll give it a go and see. At least I'll found out how extensive the (extensive) rust is!

One thing i'd be concerned about is tow ball height, if the natural height of the trailer is higher than the towball the lifting effect might cause you some problems, you might need a couple of bags of sand in the front of the trailer to bring the height down and put a bit of front load on.

Doesn't the plated weight of the trailer come in somewhere?
