Has anyone heard of Yuasa batteries. The battery on my Honda Accord i-TCDI was flat this morning so had to put it on charge. The car is now six years old so I guess it's time to replace the battery. The Hondsa dealer will supply a new battery for about £64.00, and a fairly local supplier will do a Yuasa battery for near enough the same price. The supplier said they were a Japanese company, but a check on Google indicates they are a Swindon company.

Is it possible that they supply batteries to Honda? Odd that the batteries are near enough the same price. It's more convenient to buyt locally rather than travel to Southport.

Yuasa are well respected, long standing manufacturer of batteries to the world.

Yuasa are one of the biggest manufacturers of lead-acid batteries in the world. Japanese owned, factories all over the place. Batteries are excellent quality and are used as original equipment in most Japanese cars (at least the ones built in Japan).

like trying to buy a cheap tyre batteries are all similar priced by different factors so cartels are still alive and very much kicking

All natural commodities - or most - are going through the roof.

Increased demand from developing countries (affluence) and deliberate printing of money by US Fed (called QE to keep the population happy and ignorant ) means that all commodities priced in US $ are going up in price.. a lot.

Oil. gold, corn, rubber, the lot..

Going to get a LOT worse.

(Not a genius to forecast it)

So it's going to cost a lot more to keep warm while having a protected bunk-up, then cereal for breakfast and treating wor lass to new piece of jewellery.

Yuasa batteries are first class - Unipart rebadges at least some of them under its own name.

The Unipart/Yuasa battery I bought at Partco, Kew, Southport for my previous Bora about three years ago was still going strong when the VW made its exit recently.

Cost? £55, about £20 less than other motor factors contacted, although I did get a trade price.

Am in the process of checking prices for replacement battery for A3 - good old VAG dealer wants £117 ("that includes VAT and 3 years guarantee, Sir"). With one other phone call, so far managed to nearly halve that figure. Had never heard of Yuasa.

Beware of cheaper batteries.

£100 for a Silver Calcium Varta for my old 98 Mondeo.
Was offered batteries at £45 but they were not SC.
The Mondeo charging system needs an SC battery. Check what the A3 needs before spending out!

will beware cheapos, thanks Henry - in fact, the indy who looks after the car is now ordering one (using the registration number to check needs)

A modern battery should last 10 years.

Well, in a Japanese car it should... Son's is 10years old.. original battery...Mine is 7...

Original vehicle manufacturers' fitment batteries (and exhausts) almost invariably last far, far longer than their eventual replacements.

I had my new Yuasa battery fitted this afternoon at a cost of £64.56. The original battery was a Delphi as fitted by Honda. This lasted for six and a half years.

The reason I replaced it was because the car wouldn't start yesterday morning so had to put the battery on charge. The car had been in the garage for about six days and the battery should not have been flat. Anyway, I thought it prudent to get a new battery.

These have been standard fit batteries on Japanese bikes for the last 30 years at least. Always insist on them as after market fitting - beware of imitations.

I'm sure there was a Yuasa battery on my CB 175 or FS1E, if not both.

Sixty quid sounds very fair for a battery for a medium-sized diesel car.

My house alarm has a Yuasa 12v back up battery, it lasts about eight years before requiring replacement.

That depends on how much the car had been previously used prior to being left parked up for those 6 days. If it had only been used for short journeys for instance. Also modern cars still consume battery power when the key is removed and locked up.
