 Road Marking Question - Bromptonaut
Earlier today I drove along the A45 from Weedon to Heyford - more or less J16 of the M1.

This was built around 2017/18 to bypass the village of Flore and remove the Weedon X roads as a bottleneck.

It's single carriageway and the entire length - around 3 miles - has hatching in the centre of road over red tarmac a metre or so wide bounded by broken lines.

There've been fatals since it opened, cars overtaking lorries, and it seems this is mitigation to draw attention to the centre line.

As the boundary lines are broken it does not bar the line being crossed.

Not seen over such an extensive piece of road before.

 Road Marking Question - sooty123
The set up at Sutton Bridge is pretty much the same, probably about the same distance as well. It used to be a really wide single track road, easily wide enough for people to overtake multiple vehicles in one go with space for oncoming traffic.

It was 3 lanes wide, pretty much. They pushed the carriageway away from the edges with markings and then put wide hatchings in the centre to discourage overtaking.
