SEAT Alhambra - Sell SEAT Alhambra, 1. Auto Trader, 2. ebay? - dv_ipapleaz
Hi, Quick question for you who has more experience than me selling privately, it is straight to Auto Trader to list for sale and then try ebay or facebook?

The last 2 cars I did trade in but need more cash this time round so going private. I assume Auto Trader would be more serious buyers but if the market is slow and I need to list elsewhere what order shall it do it please?

Regards and thanks.

PS: If you want to see photos of the car: novsupload123.imgbb.com/

Autotrader for price guidance, then Ebay or facebook market place. One of the Seat forums would be a goodplace.

I guess it depends on who responds to your advert on either Facebook or eBay . You’ll get the usual tyre kickers asking stupid questions and the inevitable comments of “ is it still available “ ? On Facebook. Do you want people to come round your house?

In my recent experience, Auto Trader gets more genuine buyers than either eBay or Facebook marketplace. Sold F-I-L's Boxster S to a genuine chap from 300 miles away a few months ago via Auto Trader.

I've had good results with Motorway, albeit five years ago. I've read too many horror stories to even attempt selling a high value item like a car on FB or eBay.

I'd try Motorway/WBAC or similar to see what they offer.

Attraction of it just being collected rather than all the hassle of viewing, testing insurance is worth the potentially lower cash IMHO.

It looks like a very respectable car. No idea what a fair price is but I'd try it on Gumtree for a couple of weeks. Yes you may get some stupid offers made unseen, but you may also get a genuine buyer looking for a family car for the upcoming holidays.

I've used both Gumtree and eBay to sell two cars in the last year or so. Gumtree worked for both. As for insurance, that's for the potential buyer to sort out. No insurance, no drive. You can take them out on a route of their choosing if you think they are serious.

Just one other observation. I'd try and get that white mark out of the carpet as it spoils the otherwise clean, but not over cleaned, appearance.

Thanks to all the replies I appreciate it and I've listed on Auto Trader now as motorway high bid was too low (higher than WBAC, but still I need more).

I will see how it goes for maybe 2/3 weeks and then look at other options, my feeling is that more genuine people would be on auto trader.

I surprised myself by selling a car on Gumtree. I had difficulty judging a price, so put it on Gumtree at a speculative high price to 'test the water'. It sold straight away, at the asking price, to someone who wanted that particular make and model.
