Used car dealers. A main dealer - ORB>>>
Far better it from me to whine and whine.

Finally taking the plunge to buy a nearly new main dealer car from a long standing franchise.

Liked the price and spec of the car online. Phoned to go and see the car having given sufficient information to show serious.
Was assured that it had full main dealer service history.... 2 services but only about 16000 miles.

When we got there the salesman was still with another customer, but opened the car from his desk.

Obviously not telling the truth as in the glovebox was a non franchise health check showing that the 1st service was overdue at 18 months....
Gave that one a miss..

How do you tell when a care sales person is telling porkies?

Their mouth is moving.

I bought a. Similar car today from a different dealer, and they were happy to send me a copy of the service history.
Job done...
£200 more but nearly 5000 miles less and metallic silver instead of white.
Inside looks like new.
Delivery Friday.

ORB. If I remember correctly, a few months back you were talking about giving up driving in the not too distant (eyesight?). What's changed? An itch that needed scratching?

Itches scratched long ago.
Yes, it's eyseight related....
Probably will give up driving at next licence renewal in march 2027 if that is what my eye specialist decides. I had another eye test a couple of months back and am still ok.. The new car will be a bit smaller (and hopefully) more economical for Youngrovergirl.

Next week I'll put the Venga on one of the free websites. It has continous service history since new and is good mechanically, if a little scratched from the previous lady owner who had dementia and her licence removed when she got "lost" one day a few years back All the scratches were touched in and from a few yards away it looks ok. I'm sure it'll go quickly.
So shortly down to one car and saving on the tax, ved. insurance and other bits and bobs.
Didn't reply immediately as went to Beaulieu and the Tank Museum in Dorset while the boss was at a medical conference in Southampton.

You haven't mentioned it but presumably you've part exchanged tha Ssangyong for the new car?
Hopefully you don't get to many chancers and tyre kickers when you sell the Venga, good luck with new car whatever it may be, I always get childishly excited about such things.

Choice also driven by your and other reviews and comments on HJ and here.

Collecting today...

Lovely stuff ORB, I'm sure it'll serve you well, mine averaged around 52 mpg and I didn't drive it particularly gently, yes I'll admit some of the interior plastics do feel a little scratchy ( door pockets in particular) but I never sat caressing them!
The engine is a absolute cracker, punches well above its weight, the only minor fault I experienced was a rattling heat shield above the turbo, they all do it btw, easily and permanently fixed by adding a copper washer under the bolt, don't be tempted to try nipping the bolt up...it'll snap!
Enjoy your new car!
Edit: just for info sold mine for £15,750 just over 3 years old with around 12k on the clock.

It;s an S cross in metallic silver.
Had to work out that to lock the car the usb cable must be disconnected...
SWMBO preferred it to the Vitara..

Just a little note to add.. I checked the website before I phoned to confirm and the price had droppedby £101.. I was calling to pay the holding fee/deposit and mentioned the reduction and the salesma n adjusted the price.
Every little helps..
 Suzuki S-Cross 1.4 MHEV 2024 - ORB>>>
Went around to my local Suzuki dealer and asked about a spare wheel. Complete spacesaver kit in stock with all tools £199.

Apologised as none available for months on their website, but he looked over it and said.. Nice car, Nice price.
Put me onto the Suzuki system and the (2 ) previous services ok.

The 2nd wasn't needed till 24/7/26 but the selling dealer did it and it is ok for the warranty.

They'll wire in my dashcam for me.

Also explained a couple of points, all F.O.C.

I hope you like the car.

It’s not clear if you still need a spare but if it helps I bought my genuine Suzuki Vitara/Cross one from the Suzuki online shop (you can easily find exact address on Google).

I am not sure about the S-Cross but the Vitara spare wheel space seems to be able to take a full size spare. However when I was looking I couldn’t find a genuine Suzuki full size single wheel anywhere in the country, new or used. No doubt a pattern one would fit but I wanted to be 100% sure so went for the genuine space saver.

I'm hoping that I'll never need the spare, but I'd rather have it so that I don't need to be "recovered" or get perhaps ripped off for an urgent replacement...

Footnote, I just noticed it has rear privacy glass windows...

I spend enough time in remote parts of the UK that I'd never be without a spare.

And I spend enough time in remote parts of the Iberian Peninsula not to be without …bought a space saver full kit from Levois Suzuki soon as I got my Vitara.

Isn't that almost standard equipment on some models ?

I must admit. it's one thing I didn't expect.. The one I have is the "base" model.

Can't be very dark then. One of the plus points with my Subaru is that y'all can't see the ole woman sitting in the back seat with our dog.

Privacy glass is a standard fitment on all suzukis, it was particularly dark on my Vitara, not so much on my current Swift.

My daughter drives a Vitara and was moaning over the weekend how the radio always comes on quite loud before her Apple car play kicks in.I tried everything to stop it doing this but to no avail.
A quick internet search revealed that quite a few models of Suzuki have this trait.
The only cure I could find was to download a silent mp3 track, copy it to an sd card and insert it into the car.Select the sd card from the sources and the silent mp3 starts to play. This mutes the car to give enough time for the Apple car play to start. Its worth mentioning on here as there doesn't seem to any other way of muting the radio on startup.
