Watching all these police programmes with cloned cars and how many folk are sold cloned cars.
Which took me back to the 80s??? When you used to get your registration engraved in every window of the car?
Sometimes I think we need to try and go back to some old fashioned type security now to counteract all the hi tech stuff.
Anyone removed the HT leads lately? Or fitted a kill switch?

Remove the HT leads? Now days you'd have to walk round with a coil pack under your arm.

I dont think many people are sold cloned cars, but the plates are cloned to conceal identity of the crim drivers.

It's always worth having something distinctive about the car, ie some sort of badge/ sticker etc so that you can prove it wasn't you if your car reg is cloned and nasty letters / photos start arriving in the post.

Have I told you my cloned car story?
Several months ago, I had just got in from rugby when there was a knock at the door. Two armed coppers standing there "Is this your car, sir?".
One came in and looked through all the paperwork, while his mate looked round the car. Apparently there was a car, same number as mine, running round the Midlands, doing all sorts of naughties.
One of the coppers put a piece of tape across the number plates, front and rear and said we will put a marker on the PNC, so that I wouldn't get stopped again. Congratulated me on my record keeping and toddled off after a brief chat about guns.
Couple of days later I was parking at Kingston Hospital, when a police car pulled across in front of me and I realised that another police vehicle was blocking the road behind me! Ooh! deja vu! They were as good as gold and left me alone very quickly. Obviously left hand not knowing what the right hand is doing.
