It doesn't mention anything about MG's apparently poor reliability and customer service problems. I've seen a lot about that subject and wouldn't consider an MG based on those reports.

Also in reviews I've read a lot about their ADAS and 'driver assistance' aids which seem to be more infuriating and annoying than other manufacturers.

Maybe they've improved.

It's one thing to sell a lot of cars; it would be interesting to know what buyers think after they've lived with their MG for a few months.

Maybe it doesn't mention "MG's apparently poor reliability and customer service problems" because they really aren't a thing? I can point you towards posts and videos of MG5s used as taxis etc with 100s of 000s of miles with few faults other than normal wear and tear.

I had a new MG5 EV in 2021. Had no significant problems with it but decided to swap it for a new one a year ago, because the price was so good - about £22k for a top of the range estate. And it was the facelift version, which brought some minor improvements.

People seem to moan about driver aids on most cars, probably because they feel they don't need them. I'm more open minded, feeling that they are there for my (and others) safety, and probably do a better job than I do. I've always used cruise control, and am quite impressed with adaptive cruise control, even though once in a while around town it misreads something ahead and brakes when it needn't. The steering becomes a little light with the lane keep turned on but I don't see any decent driver should find that a problem. Nothing bongs on mine as I worked out how to silence them.

I've read one or two horror stories about lemons but isn't that common across all brands? The phrase Friday build springs to mind.

I believe I got a lot of car for the money, and a lot cheaper and more pleasant to drive that many ICE cars. Yet if you still fancy yourself as a boy tracer the low end acceleration is brilliant.

Still there is plenty of other choices if they're not for you.

Been on the MG EV Facebook page since its inception in 2019 and now has nearly 19k members.

A handful of people have had significant issues, the majority are happy with their cars, and some (including me and smokie) have have more than one MG EV and have been satisfied with them.

James Coates of Cleevely motors used an MG5 as a works van, taking it to 172k miles in 3 years & 5 months:

James also bought an MG ZS EV for his own use that had been used by a Facebook member as a minicab at 240k miles (44kWh battery still at 91% health):
