MG are bringing over the IM5 and IM6. They are marketed as a separate brand in some other markets but since MG has done some serious legwork as a brand here, SAIC are using them as a push into executive EVs.

Impressive.

If I'd not just bought a new MG5 in November I'd have been sorely tempted. I mean there isn't anything important about them I don't already have except the range, and I probably only need that once a month at most, but they are quick too (not that mine is that slow, 0 - 60)
I need to stop reading your MG posts!! :-)
EDIT: Though the sporty IM5 in the YouTube isn't the SUV or hatch in the car ad. www.new-car-discount.com/car/mg-motor-uk/

At least the IM5 & 6 can tow now, 1500 braked kilos.
|
Aye - suspect the RWD IM6 is the sweet spot for towing - probably good for ~200-250 miles with a medium van and ridiculous recharge speeds on a 350kW charger.
Decent review though he seems a bit unimpressed by the exterior styling.
I think it looks pretty good.

Just looked at the prices on Autotrader. They really are attractive. Less than £20,000 for a new MG 3 model, or less than £15k for a 6-12 months old.
I think I have bought my last car, but if I were in the market for a new car, some of these would be very interesting. There is a dealer in Epsom, not far away...
|
I saw a new mgs5 on sale for 26k the other day, size wise looked like the explorer. No idea what they are like though
|
I'm on my 2nd MG5 and they are just fine. More expensive ones EVs have some additional bells & whistles but this one has plenty for me.
I think this one is a keeper, but then I said that about the last one but they were offering new at such silly prices it'd have been rude not to. I did take something of a hit in depreciation but then I believe that's true of many new cars at 3 years old, and it gave me the newer model and another 7 years warranty.
I doubt I could be tempted back to an ICE car now.

Im sure you would. If the price was right and you could afford to fuel it, both tax & insure it.

Not so sure. There may have been a time but the drive in an EV is so smooth and refined... and they seem so mechanically uncomplicated

Vauxhall have revealed the Corsa GSE EV. With 800bhp. Utterly insane imo. Who would buy such a car?

Who would buy such a car?
Nobody. The won’t be able to. It’s a concept car and won’t see it into production.
|
No one needs a car with 700++ bhp.
None but a few with F1 or other very high power track experience have the ability to make use of the performance. I haven't and respectfully suggest most on this forum are equally incapable.
A few seconds in foot flat to floor mode on normal roads will result in licence or life limiting outcomes.
They may be track day toys, or ego boosting devices for those with significantly more money than sense and an excess of confidence over real ability.

>> I do like the look of the ID Polo GTI coming up in 2026,
Really? that "dazzle" scheme makes a very good job of disguising it and making it look like an amorphous blob.
"Dazzle" is fascinating.

Exactly. I could have afforded the MG4 XPower version. But I dont need blistering 0 to 60 in 3 and a bit seconds. It sounds like a guaranteed licence loser if I had one.

If you had the MG or if you had a licence?
