6 years of BMW X1 ownership - Bobby
Just updated my geeky mileage spreadsheet and have now had my car six years. Its a 2016 BMW X1 2.0 diesel. Bought it in Jun 2019 with 9609 miles on the clock and its now done 57032.

My first full tank cost me 11p a mile and my latest tank was 14p a mile. Over my ownership the average has been 14p a mile.

The cheapest my diesel has been was £1.047 in the summer of 2020 in the height of covid. Dearest was £1.917 in July 2022.

Best tank mpg was 53.93 (long steady 60mph runs up and down the A9 to collect our new puppy) and worse was 36.7 in the middle of a snowy winter that I had probably been out playing in the snow!

Six years later I still love this car, it has everything I need in a car (other than maybe carplay but as I have never had that then I don't miss it).

Average of 8000 miles a year, helped by WFH since March 2020.

Think it may be the longest, or possibly the second longest (as I can't mind how long I kept the Altea for) I have owned a car and still no plans to get rid.

Friends of mine have a 2017 X1, bought from new. They live in the uk where they primarily use public transport to get around, but a number of times a year they take it to their second home in Spain, sailing, as I do, from Portsmouth.
They have no plans to change it

Last Sun and Mon I 60% charged daughter's EV and 50% mine, what with Sunday lunch and a pyrolytic clean of the oven and the usual washing dishwasher etc we got though just over 80 kWh in the two days.

My electricity bill for those two days was about -39p. Yes, minus :-) Had the solar panels not been blaring out quite so much it would have been better. Gotta love Agile plunge pricing!!

EDIT: Looks like I have 6 hours of sub 1p elec tomorrow, incl 4 hours of 0p or less :-). Car only needs about 24 kWh which takes about 2h 30m. Lucky neighbour and his Kia will get the rest, if he needs it.

Pfffft, part timer. Must do a report on my now nearly 8 year old G31 with 109k miles up. It certainly wont include petrol costs (eyewatering towing the van)

Tad over the 'average' 12k miles pa then. We're doing about the same in the Superb - 4k miles over 4 months. A fair chunk going to Harris and back and we're of to France a week on Wednesday.

An account of the Beemer would be most welcome.

I'll get the records together.

Don't forget to include depreciation pence per mile. (subtract the 'webuy anyheap' sum from what you paid for it, multiply by 100 then divide by the mileage). Hope for a figure well under fuel ppm.
