The DVLA website will tell him whether or not the vehicle is taxed and until when. Just to double check. But I call SCAM. In any event they don't generally deal in emails

Most people on here are pretty savvy and will know this but a good initial test is to “hover” over the incoming email address. If it’s a scam this will show the real hidden email address. Invariably this will not be anything like an official one.
They do send emails. I checked and I have a genuine one in my inbox acknowledging my car tax renewal. I am pretty sure they sent me an email when my tax was due but if they did I have deleted it.
The key is that they don’t ask you for bank or card details as a scammer might.
The point is that the email emanated from someone purporting to be the “Vehicle Compliance Team “ not the DVLA and since there is no such thing it is instantly recognisable as a scam.
The previous occupant of this house died and their car went I know not where. I received parking tickets, TFL and dart charge penalties for it, but never a tax renewal notification.
I could see online that it was taxed, insured and MOT'd.
I couldn't work that out.
And I go and renew right away, but can't until I get my MOT, so have to wait a couple of weeks, which is annoying, because I don't want to forget about re-taxing it.
Out walking with my Monday Spain based group,.. apparently car tax ( call
It what you will) varies region to region in Spain. A friend with a newish Skoda Kamiq pays €45 per year. Same as another friend with a 14yo diesel Focus.
Duster diesels are very popular…three friends own almost new ones, and Volvo XC60 diesels are popular amongst my walking pals..forgot to ask them what road tax they pay.
