Hyundai delivered a loan car. 1 month old. 1,000 miles on the clock.
It looks wider than my current Tucson but the seats are certainly narrower and not as comfortable.
It has electronic seat adjustment and I can't find a comfortable position yet.
It has an LCD instrument display. Great for the first 5 minutes then the novelty wears off.
Gear selection is via a stalk off the steering column. Again it's electronic and there is no tactile feedback. I like shifting the stick to park. There's no feedback with this save for a lit "P". Not impressed.
The buttons for window demist are touch sensitive- again a retrograde step IMHO. The aircon knobs are still there but are now too small. Same with the radio on and off and volume knob.
The hatch door is electric! That's a problem no one asked to be fixed! It made opening the hatch a chore. Step to close and it stops opening. I thought it was broken.
The car reads all sorts of road signs and beeps constantly; when a new sign or limit is detected and when you exceed the limit by more than 1mph arrrgh!
It took me 10 minutes to figure out how to start the thing on the way home. Thought it was in park as per the "P" light on the gear stalk. Pressed the start button but nothing happened. Foot was on the brake pedal. Still not sure how I got it going.
It's quiet on the road, especially in electric mode but feels soulless. I'll try sports mode tomorrow. The wheels are huge - larger profile tyres would have been more sensible but are less fashionable.
So far 5/10. My 2020 (21) Tucson is so much more intuitive to drive and was a real jump in and go car.
