Base model CRV for 22 Reg, under 5K miles for the list price of a brand new Fiesta!!

Never new there was still an S model - 2 litre hybrid - I had thought the SE was the entry level car.
Base model 2WD, automatic, modest stereo BUT a lot of car in today's mad priced car market

Indeed… I kept hoping that second hand prices would soften, but that doesn’t seem to be the case, and I had to bite the bullet.
I made my offer on the 2019 (69) Vitara SZ5 a few hours before close of business on 31/07, hoping that maybe they had a sales target to hit ( it was at a Skoda dealership).
The most they would discount was £250, less than 2%, plus an oil change, full tank of petrol and 12 months MOT. It has cost me an additional £172 for a spare wheel kit from LeVois Suzuki.
£15,140 for an almost 4yo Vitara…bet they didn’t cost that new !!

I am picking up my "new car" on the 20th
Honda dealer wanted £37.5K 72 Reg 10 month old/ 6K on clock, with £7K for my 11 yr old CRV.
So £30.5K

I have bought a 23 reg, 6 month old with 1900 miles, for £25,500 - £9,000 for my T/I - bonus today - I found out that the car has a 5 year service contract. I have bought from this dealer before and both cars have been great.

My exisiting CRV - bought new for £20,500, T/I £9K - roughly £20 depreciation per week over 11 years ownership - total repairs in the 11 years £100 - this obviously excludes servicing, tyres, etc etc

I understand Ford new prices are a very rough guide and can be negotiated down considerably.

Yes I recall getting near 25% discount on a new Escort in the early 80s.

It seems that deals are starting to come back...

In my mind a Fiesta type car should be about £12k and a Focus type car £15k! ;-D

I'm the same - although perhaps that Fiesta is a bit dear!

Prices will crash shortly as I just felt compelled to ditch my wife's 8yr old diesel Tiguan (which has been excellent and I felt I was tempting fate to keep it longer) and replace it with a (not so) nealry new petrol Karoq.

I'm trying not to think about how much the Karoq was but it started out dearer than new, as Skoda has been doing hefty PCP deposit contributions.

In 2021 I bought a brand new Hyundai Tucson DCT (Auto) Diesel Hybrid for just over £20k (incl metallic paint). They were doing manual ones for £17k - flat paint.

The list price was £28k and the deal included two contributions, one from the manufacturer and one from the PCP company.

The PCP was paid off within 10 days to avoid interest (actually I was a day late due to confusion over the start date) and Hyundai (Santander) let me cancel penalty free.

I thought that was a bargain price because a second hand one (same model, same year) with 31k miles at the same dealer today is £21k and at the time were £25k used.

Again - to my mind, that's about the right price for a car - a Tucson for less than the price of a Fiesta!

Some people have dropped lucky over the Covid price fluctuations - a neighbour just sold a 2019 Tiguan for £22,500 and he paid £23,500 for it new (and that was with over a grand's worth of options).

Somebody else must have thought it a good buy - disappeared off the Honda site since Friday!
