We will no doubt find out the answer later today, but if any of you would like to join in with the speculation, here is the scenario and the clues so far.
My wife visited her elderly parents on Saturday and among the other family news from her mother was that apparently my wife’s sister has a new car.
When my wife asked what it was, she was told that it was white, quite small and on an ‘18 plate. No other details were remembered other than it was petrol, manual and that it came from the same dealership as their Touareg, oh, and that it was thought to begin with a “C”.
My wife asked if it was possibly a Corsa, a Clio or a Citroen, but that proved to be too hard a question.
I’m going left field and betting on a Seat!
Anyone want to pitch in with a guess?
;-)

Good shout Martin. Exciting isn’t it? ;-)
|
...hmmm, it'll probably be a diesel, auto, Audi Q8 (but it will be white)..... ;-)
|
Yes I think that is probably the only given. I’m still going with a Seat, her previous car was an Ibiza…
I could of course just ring my brother in law to find out, but I’m quite enjoying the suspense.
;-)
|
..at 2018, it could be a Citroen C1...
|
...Toyota C-HR
(or if she's been indoctrinated by you, a MB C-Class ;-) )

Well, the garage is a VW main dealership, not that their used stock would necessarily be that brand.
|
...you'll just have to hope that someone didn't "trade-up" from a Caterham.... ;-)
|
She wouldn’t fit in one of those, there’s rather a lot more of her than my wife!
|
Oh thats not small is it.
|
Think they do them in white though, so it’s in contention.

They do indeed - I recently saw a white Cullinan with the number plate GYP5Y. Surprisingly there wasn't a travelling caravan hocked on the back.
|
Bit of a Freudian slip there with the “hocked” ?
;-)
|
>> I’m still going with a Seat,
Seat Cupra?
|
Could be!
I can hardly bear the wait to find out now!
|
Ceat Arona
Doubt it’s a Cayman if she’s a BFP

Could be a Corolla I suppose, but would that qualify as small?
The tension mounts eh?
;-)

Polo
P and C are pretty similar aren’t they? Hi
|
Sort of depends on your preferences I suppose…
;-))
|
Guess it could be a C3 or a C4 Citroen, and Mazda do some C things I think.
Edit- then there’s the C-Max of course.

Small though? What does small mean?
|
No, she doesn’t play golf.
;-)
|
If she needs a small hatchback it's probably a Corvette.
|
Well, it’s a theory, but aren’t they supposed to be red?
|
Right well, now we know.
It is white
It is small (well, not all that small)
It is a petrol
It is a manual
It is on an ‘18 plate
It did come from a VW main dealer
It is also a “Bluemotion” apparently (whatever that means?)
It does not begin with a C and never did.
It is…a Golf.
…and evidently she loves it, so that’s good.
;-)

What is Bluemotion?
www.swanswaygarages.com/blog/what-is-vw-bluemotion/
AIUI, in Germany at least, the word for Green is too political to be used in the sense it might be in English, hence Blue.

...told you :-)
(My next guess for small, white, beginning with "C" was going to be caravan ;-) )

Oh they have one of those too. Twin axle thing, huge, hence the Toerag.

She hasn't got a brother called Trigger has she?
|
Do keep up at the back, see Humph's post at Mon 27 Feb 23 21:42 :-)
|
As RP replied to my post, he might be asking if I got the brother's name correct :)
|
There is no brother, but, I sometimes call her sister ( my wife) Lucretia if she has been cooking. :-(
