Does anyone know the purpose of the small plastic "fins" on the rear of the rear wheel arch near the body/ bumper joint of the current model Fiesta?

To keep the back wheels behind the front?
Early Sierras had 'ears'.

...Early Sierras had 'ears'...
Ford put a barely noticeable wind deflector around the rear three-quarter windows of Sierras to cure a 'wander' at motorway speeds.
It worked, so owners said at the time.

It sure did Iffy. I had one without and one with and the second one was much improved at um...higher speeds...

I remember the Sierra deflectors, I would think the Fiesta fins are too small to have an aerodynamic effect on stability. They may cause turbulence to deflect dirt, the dirt deflector moulded into the lens of my rear lights is much larger, but is unobtrusive as it is transparent.

Maybe, but the Sierra one were barely an inch deep at their widest point.
I would have said the same about them.

But they were long and curved around the rear 3/4 windows.
Mine had them. They also had to dump the aerodynamic wheeltrims.
