Phoned up to see what the APR charges to pay monthly on a £722 quote and they said 8% which is fine but then they said because the direct debit needs to be done via the phone I would loose the online discount.
So it seems the online cash discount is only for people that are paying cash. It just seems to be a very sneaky way of advertising very low base rates. I suppose it is the Ryan air model.
Now phoning some of the slightly dearer quotes of around £800 to see if they are actually cheaper.

Looks like it will still be the cheapest quote. I am happy with the price just a bit unhappy with the way it has been advertised.

You took all of four minutes to 'phone around !?!
Is your choice really that limited ?
|
Yep the quotes go like this
£722
£900
£1200
£1500
£3000
£6000
£12000
£100,0000
£1000,0000,0000
You get the idea, the difference between the cheapest and the next cheapest is over £200.

Ive set up direct debits for insurance online before now, somebodys telling porkies.

Indeed it dosn't really make sense but that is what he told me on the phone. I will play about with things tonight to see if I can get a better deal even if I end up taking a out a low interest rate credit card and setup direct debts on it so its all paid within the 12 months.
