AIUI the capacity of the hybrid battery is 0.8kw/h.
The cost of the batteries does seem to be excessive.
I wonder if MB are using a bespoke design or modular "AA" type batteries in an array?
I did visit a component manufacturer in about 2013 who made trays or containers for MB hybrid car batteries. At the time they looked like a steel box filled with steel tubes where "AA" type batteries (but larger) could be inserted and held in place.

Not AA's but a cell called an 18650. 3.7 volts lithium cell, used in all sorts of things from Dysons to Teslas. Many more in a Tesla than a Dyson of course.

Yup. An 18650 - I read somewhere that there were about 8,500 of 'em in a Tesla Model S.
I'm using them for moveable wifi sensors before I hardwire them in.
