It was such a stupid programme. It is not roads that are killers, but poor driving - excessive speed for the conditions, inattention, laziness, must-get-in-front attitude, etc. Blaming the tarmac is unfair on the tarmac!

It has some valid points. Smart motorways are anything but - if you wanted to make them unsafe that surely is the way to do it, lack of police units is a given. Your chances of getting nicked by anything other than a camera (most of which dont work) is negligible. You can more or less drink and drive at will these days.
