Thinking of the "executive car - dying breed" thread, both GM & Ford persist with the large executive saloon in Oz and NZ, with a V6 or V8 fitted as standard fare. Bit of an anachronism, but they have their loyal followers. Built locally, these cars can just about match the price of an imported 2-litre Mondeo, so seen as good value by some.
Anyway, latest wheeze is GM's 3-litre SIDI engine. No, not a diesel, it stands for Spark-Ignition-Direct-Injection. I assume that there is no real ground-breaking technology here, otherwise Opel/Vauxhall would be shouting about it in Europe? Then again, do Opel/Vauxhall sell any 3-litre cars since the demise of the Senator..?
Note to Mods - Commodore is mis-spelt in the drop-down ;-)

How long will it be before the boot manufacturer says something?
Car manufacturers go to extreme lengths to protect their image then trample over anyone else's if they think they can get away with it.

No it's not new;a number of manufacturers have used it in the past and then stopped offering it.

Spark-Ignition = Petrol engine.
Direct-Injection = Fuel injected directly into the cylinder. Standard technology on European and Japanese petrol engines since about 2003.
So no, nothing to see here. Move along please.

Nope 2.8i V6 is the best at the moment mainstream wise, or of course the 6.2 litre v8 VXR
