Saw a Reg I would like but its £499 and not willing to pay that.

Does anyone know if DVLA ever reduce their prices or have sales or whatever or do they just sell them onto dealers after a while?

And, every time I check the price of it, does this register interest and therefore they won't reduce the price!!

Sometimes several different sellers are offering the same plate. Have you checked other dealers?

Put in an offer at a price a little below that which you would be prepared to settle on Bobby. The plate will almost certainly still "belong" to someone and will be being offered for sale on their behalf. If you get lucky they may just want to dispose of it and may not care very much if they let it go cheaply.

I'd go in at £100 and be prepared to negotiate a wee bit.

Have a look on regtransfers and the like. They sometimes have the same ones.

Surely it is not possible for a third party seller to retail a plate below the DVLA price as before retailing to the likes of you and me these 'merchants' themselves purchase the number from the DVLA site?

Not sure the DVLA take offers - in fact as they are a government owned monopoly money spinner I bet they dont!

imo dealers in reg transfers and their ilk are the usual rip off merchants. They advertise the more standard personal plates they don't own at £££ above the DVLA prices. If you 'buy' it from them they then, and only then, buy it from the DVLA site..........., add a couple of hundred ££ and smile nicely as they fleece you ;)
