16 of them, out for a gentle cycle, taking the whole of our half of the road (when they weren't wandering over the centre line) and probably stretching more than 5 car lengths.
So even on the straight bits where I had good visibility I couldn't risk a pass because they hadn't left any gaps to pull into during the overtake, if required. So probably best part of 3 miles following them. They didn't even seem to bother looking behind occasionally to see if there was anyone there.
When I towed a caravan I always left a big enough gap so that an overtaker could pull in if necessary - no skin off my nose if someone wanted to go faster, and could.

Been behind that and thought they take up more room than a 40 foot artic. Have seen one that did leave decent gaps and a short peep on the horn to 'tail end charlie' (who gave me an overtake signal) gave me a wave of acknowledgement. An exception rather than a rule.
