Vauxhall are useless or they are up here in Leeds i have a ongoing problem and they still can't get it right took it in last week, Parts to be ordered and they forgot to do a simple job like that!!

So which manufactures offer the better customer service?

Is it just me with vauxhall do i get poor service or anybody else?

I mentioned in another thread I always get excellent service from the BMW dealers here in Germany, though never used them in the UK. The biggest thing that annoys me about them (and I have told them this) is the neverending stream of customer satisfaction survey forms and telephone calls asking if I am happy with the car and the dealersa.

When I still lived in the UK, I always got good service from Ford dealers, variable from Mercedes, Toyota and VW and downright dreadful from TVR. Can't remember ever actually being in a Vauxhall dealership.

Recent dealings with a few of dealers locally (so this is just anecdotal) confirm my own bias - Toyota very good, Lexus excellent, Skoda not bad, Seat blinking useless.

The majority of dealers are not owned by the manufacturers and the manufacturers have little or no control over them.Everything would be a lot better if they did.

You seem to be confusing Vauxhall the car manufacturer with a franchised dealer. My local Vauxhall dealer is pretty good but they aren't Vauxhall.

Vauxhall Dealer in Darlington - which is a Sherwoods Franchise........ Good, my only issue is they didnt advise me I needed to have all my insurance and Driving licence with me to get my Courtsey car (when my car was in for a service) - but I should have known that so I cant really blame them for that.

Renault Dealer that was in Darlington, that is now closed down - (Not Sherwoods franchise) Awful customer service.

I find that the small family owned/run dealers are likely to be very good. This has been my experience in Stamford Lincs (Peugeot) and Cottesmore Rutland (Ford); 4 or 5 members of the family involved in the admin, sales and servicing and a vested interest in making the business run well.

I would agree with that, we have a family owned and run dealership nearby and it has an excellent reputation.

Vauxhall dealers were one reason I was delighted to see the back of my Astra, although Approach in Andover I remember as pleasant and helpful.

I've mentioned Listers Toyota in Stratford as being good to deal with. So were Lime Garages of Leamington in my Saab days, and recently Tollbar Volvo in both Coventry and Warwick have done a good job for me. I haven't yet tried out the Volvo options in my new Thames Valley patch.

Many here have praised the attitude and service of Skoda dealers, but no-one seems to have told Brooklyn of Alcester. They took our Fabia's minor cooling problems and a hatch that didn't quite fit and made them steadily worse. Bargepole? I wouldn't touch them with Zero's.

VW dealer in Swindon have always been good to me - cheaper that my nearest dealer, and always do what they say when they say. Always spend the time to expalin exactly what they are going to do BEFORE they do it, and run through it again with you afterwards and bill is always what they said it would be.
