...turns out the Land Rover 130 is Td5 powered! That’s going to be quite a distinctive noise as the funeral procession makes its way through Windsor Castle!

HMs Jaguar X type estate was another option.

The TD5 was clattering at tickover as expected.

I thought it more noticeable when they lifted the coffin off to go into the church, you could really hear it clattering away.

Felt like quite an appropriate, agricultural sound. Rest in peace.

Took a while though ...

"The duke, who died at the age of 99 last week, worked on creating the bespoke hearse for 16 years, starting in 2003."

Should have got Ant Anstead on the case; it would have been done in a couple of days. I read somewhere that there was another one built. As backup. A decision clearly made by someone who's had previous experience of JLR products. Never mind, it performed well and sounded like a TD5.

Are we supposed to believe that on Sunday afternoons, if things were quiet, he would slip into the workshop at Windsor for an hour or two and do a bit of fettling on the device?

I'm pretty sure it's sayinghe had an input into its design not that he was on tools.

It was just a cover...

I’m popping out to the workshop Liz; bit of work to do on the LandRover. I’ll be back in a few hours ;)

Well, yes, it was just a cover.

As far as I could see, it was a deck on top of a fairly standard LWB Defender, although a bit complex, with slides and locks for the coffin.

I guess it will go back as one of the estate vehicles.

Nice and shiny though!

Apparently when it comes to Prince Andrew's funeral he is going to be taken there by a 15 year old Escort. lol

I wonder how good the lawyers here are on litigation?

I had to think about that one, not a lot, but I had to think about it.

The version I heard was slightly cruder... ;)
