Apologies it this has already been posted.

An ad that I find simultaneously charming and infuriating.

Oh dear - the Polar Bear myth again. They are at record numbers, the arctic is not melting more than usual (like every summer) and CO2 is not destroying the planet.

Even if it was, a Leaf would not be the solution...

Perhaps you will explain how you arrive at this conclusion, when the people who actually count them say that their numbers are declining.

Of course, the article itself says that "Diesel is better than battery" is only true in limited circumstances, i.e. when:

o - Electricity is produced by burning forril fuels;

o - Very small diesel cars consuming less than 3.9 L/100km are considered, such as a SMART fortwo 800cc, Polo 1.2, Fabia Estate 1.2.

Otherwise, it isn't true.

www.electricityinfo.org/

shows the mix of UK electricty production..

On that basis, diesel in small cars IS better than battery - in the UK... at the present.

Since most of the coal stations are going to be closed in the next 8 years and no replacements are yet being built, battery cars may not run as there may be not enough electricity to do it..

(I am deadly serious)

What a puke making advert!

Surely a battery car is one of the most inefficient use of power/energy?

Imagine the scenario - you charge your electric car for 8 hours from the wall socket (where the power comes from a completely unpolluting source of course!) and you also fill up your petrol engined car.

You don't use either for 2-3 days. The battery car will have dribbled some/a lot of its power away (just like your laptop does) whereas the petrol car will have all of its stored energy ready to be used.

I'm not against future developments and electric hybrids may work out to be a brilliant idea self righhteous toss like these adverts put me off!
