Well despite my praisings of the old girl my Mechanic has said it is probably time to say au revoir. There are a number of issues some minor, some not so minor and some known looming. If I spend the money now, potentially 1.5 -2k he says what next, Turbo, suspension etc. so I think I will seek a later 2nd hand model. Now this is where the problem starts. Where on earth does one source the animal, i.e 1 owner, never raced or rallied, you get my drift. Autotrader throws little up and I am just looking for clues. All sensible advice gratefully received.

BTW I want a Master (if possible). I want FWD, A/C and electric windows and mirrors. Transits are probably a no no given the DMF problems reported.

I have also obtained a price for new and they have gone up 2.4k in a year with another rise in October. Methinks they may struggle to sell too many.

Best regards,

Martin

I rather like the story of the the Parisian art thief who was caught when his getaway van broke down.

" I 'ad no Monet to buy Degas to make ze Van Gogh..."

Good thinking Zed.

May well be wrong here but isn't the Vauxhall Movano and possibly the Nissan Interstar the same van with different badging?

Might be worth investigating.

I'd suggest buying from a pain dealer, and check out Plymouth & Exeter as well.
There are specialist indie van dealers about, but I'd *still* go to a pain dealer.

Wasn't thinking new Mart, just it would give more hits on a used search.

Odd though that Vaux should be more expensive than Reno for the same vehicle, don't suppose 'lifetime' warranty applies to vans either same as 5 year doesn't apply to Toyota's pick ups.

Exactly! Our last 3 cars have been purchased from an independent used car outlet just down the road from Tavistock, most of the cars are ex motorbility so are one owner low mileage well maintained jobbies so I can thoroughly recommend them for cars.
If you could find an outlet like that (and they do exist) you'd be OK,
Have you considered leasing old chum?

...A Transit's a no-no because of DMF issues...

Couple of points:

My last 95,000 motoring miles have been trouble free in diesel DMF-equipped Fords.

Has anyone checked if Trannies have DMFs?

They probably do, but as it's a commercial application, they might not.
