I’ve received a photo from my brother showing a nasty scrape all around his NS headlight unit and front of wing. Being NS he didn’t notice it immediately but is pretty certain the damage was done a few days ago in a certain supermarket car park.
Is there any mileage him trying to obtain any possible cctv images from potential security cameras, or should he just suck it up? It’s a shiny fairly new subaru Levorg and he isn’t a happy bunny.
FWIW I always park as far from a supermarket customer entrance as possible. Same goes with all car parks.

Worth a try I think although car park etc operators are often reported as relying on all sorts of perverse interpretations of 'Data Protection' to avoid releasing images.

No. Life is too short.
1) Identify who owns cameras
2) Find person with authority to hand over recordings
3) Persuade them to hand over recordings with no proof of incident
4) Find the actual time/date it happened
5) Get identifiable image of car and proof of incident (close to imposible)
6) Identify owner of car
7) Prove who was driving the car
8) Make them hand over money or give insurance details
9) Make insurance company hand over money despite sufficient proof or admission of fault

a) Sigh heavily, lament the state of society, have a G&T
b) Bite on repair costs

If it's just a scrape live with it. No doubt there will be more.

My advice was pour another drink and next time park further away
