I wouldn’t pick him as a journalist. “These ones”. That’s great grammar Son. Overgrown puffed up kid.

I wouldn't "pick" him ( or any of the cars ). I might "choose" one though...

A finite, countable list, so 'which' not 'what'.

...I suspect, given the opportunity, that you might choose more than one.......

Argument!
Pick works better than choose in this context IMO. Pick implies a necessary decision, with a from defined options, also that the object is to end up with the best one - the "pick".
Choice is subtly different - you might choose not to have any of them, or choose not to say. You might choose something entirely different, but you can't have it as you must pick one from those that are available. You can't pick and choose.
Or you could avoid the dilemma by selecting one.

I'm not sure I'd "take" any of those he featured if the opportunity arose. Load of bloaters by and large plus some seriously naff interior designs and trim colours.
|
You can pick your nose, but you can't choose it, without surgical intervention anyway. But one chooses a motor vehicle. You most definitely wouldn't say ( in polite company ) that you had picked, lets say, a Mondeo, would you? Of course not, you would say that you had chosen one.

So do I.
Most of us wouldn't choose any of those cars. But if you had to pick one?

Have to say, I'm very reluctant to take any advice on the correct use of the English language from a Yorkshireman.
That's not to say that there have never been any clever ones of course, in much the same way there is no doubt that some dolphins are pretty quick witted, but I'd not rush to ask one to proof read and critique my written work for me...

The Edinburgh Scots are more English than most of the English so you're probably right. And I do have a tendency to fall into dialect.

I have always thought you were a Canute.
