The second bore was constructed quite quickly once the EU agreed to pay for it.
The Bridge was even faster - thinking about building one in 85, opened to traffic in 91.

Tunnels are dearer than bridges.

But they built that on the cheap with only 4 lanes, something they will surely regret. Good to see the new tunnel will have six.
