It just shows you the power of people on the web, press. TV etc into forcing Ford to take responsibility for faulty goods.

When buying a car it's not just look, price, performance that is important it's how good the manufacturer is at righting wrongs in their cars - Ford, BMW are 2 that have finally owned up in 2018

All we need now is Mazda to admit that their 2.2 diesels are not up to the mark & VW to their DSG, engine chain faults+ ABS brake malfunctions that stretch back many years.

I just knew there there is a reason I would not buy a tiny turbo engine. My 1.5 NA Jazz is just as powerful, better fuel economy, and has bulletproof reliability. And before anyone says it, I don't give a stuff about badge snobbery.

>>I would not buy a tiny turbo engine.

It's not just Ford that has / had trouble with the 3 cylinder turbos - BMW/Mini 1.5s.

Touching a massive piece of wood - VAG seem to do OK with theirs. Daughter just got a SEAT Ateca with a 3 cyl 1 litre turbo. For the size of car it goes well and is economical too.

I bought the 5yr warranty though. :)

My VW Jetta is 11 and a half years old - its 1.4litre petrol TSi engine (twin charged) engine hasn't never given a moment's worry.

But about six years ago, an ABS sensor packed up and the vehicle was repaired by the local main dealer under the VW extended warranty. Been no problem since.

I assume the double negative is intentional?

Thats a very confused article, mixing up three completely separate issues and putting them under one heading. One of them doesn't even have anything to do with the eco boost engine.

Whatever the problem Ford did not seem to acknowledge it or them for a long time. I bought an almost new 05 2.0 TDCI focus, at its third service a new wiring loom was fitted at Ford's expense to the radiator fan. When I queried this I was told that it changed the fan from always live to ignition switched as some cars had caught fire while parked and switched off due to corrosion in the fan controller. Not impressed, my car was often in my garage overnight or while we were abroad. My garage is integral with the house!

Haven't the Japanese been using 660cc turbo engine for years in their Kei cars?

Probably helps they are small cars like the Suzuki Cappucino.

And the (deep breath) Daihatsu Cuore Avanzato TR- XX R4?

Yes, but they do the engineering properly.

I think Suzuki and their mild hybrid set up on their non-turbo small engine would be a good alternative to a small turbo.
