Shamelessly pinched from elsewhere, but you guys might enjoy it without having to go there.
The game is to list car models with numbers in them sequentially, to see how far our collective knowledge can get us.
To start, I'll give you the first three, again pinched I'm afraid. Gives you the idea I hope.
BMW 1 series
Mazda 2
Ford Escort Xr3i
So a four from someone please...

...almost game, set and match, Mark, (especially if you had spelt Renault correctly ;-) )
13 is difficult, but I bring you the Matford 13CV.............
.......or a BMW i3 seen from a distance. :-)
|
The Matford for 13 is a new one on me. Interesting stuff. Jolly well done.
Meanwhile, with the flurry of Renaults, also a good play, we can have the Renault 17,18,19,20 and 21, so that's a bit of a boost.

Renault 25, I am sure someone can fill in the gap.

In case the thread display is different, we're up to Renault 21, so we need a 22 someone.

The Renault R28 is a Formula One racing car, with which Renault F1 contested the 2008

Made by Renault, funnily enough.

Is it me, or do some people not know what the word "sequential" means, or how the OP wanted the game to run?
We started off with single digits, followed by double digits, and before you know it, we're into triple digits.
numbers like 612, 626 and 630, might well contain the numbers 61, 62 and 63, but to me they're still triple digit numbers and thus not sequential.

The OP said:
"The game is to list car models with numbers in them sequentially"
So we took the word to be part of the rules. Do you not know what the word "in" means?

Perhaps the OP could clarify before you get further out of your pram ;)
To me, he wanted it to run sequentially, and the examples he gave suggested 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 etc.
Not 1, 2, 30, 54, 650 etc.
The examples he gave were
BMW 1 series
Mazda 2
Ford Escort Xr3i
So a four from someone please...

We did that at 10:05 yesterday.

We just interpreted his rule which said numbers in models. So there is a 6 in 650i. Simple.

The spirit of the thing is to do whatever you want. I'd intended sequential, but it hardly matters. It's just to highlight some cars we might not have heard of and a bit of fun, not a Brexit plan. I've now learned about a couple of cars new to me so it's all good.
If you like you can try the "alphabet version" in another thread.
So worry not.
|
The problem about doing it with just the numbers in there is you won't get very far hence us being creative.
The low numbers are easy with a handful of cars, e.g.
Audi A1, A2, A3, A4, A5, A6, A7, A8 or
Audi A1, Q2, Q3, Q4 (new in 2019), Q5, Q6, Q7, Q8
Citroen C1, C2, C3, C4, etc.
Then you're probably in need of Renault to get into the 20s. Some Rovers will be handy. Could have had the SD1 as the first car even.
Audi's new naming nomenclature is handy for some higher numbers like Audi A6 S-Line 40 TDI or the 55 TFSI. But then is the 40TDI and 55 TFSI engine marking actually part of the model which is the A6?

>> We did that at 10:05 yesterday.
Yes, I know. I was quoting what the OP had said as an example.
>> We just interpreted his rule which said numbers in models. So there is a 6 in 650i. Simple.
Yes, far too simple. It would have been far more of a challenge to do it without effectively cheating.
|
Cheating Dave? Taking it all a bit too seriously perhaps?
|
>> Taking it all a bit too seriously perhaps?
Most definitely.
But in my defence, I was enjoying the thread until some people started taking the easy option, and then subsequently declaring they were bored already (but editing out the comment shortly afterwards). IMHO, they were only bored because they didn't have to think very hard to provide an answer.

|
Holy thread revival, Batman.
Start again. The rule this time is explicit. Sequential consecutive numbers only, with no cheaty 633 for 63 or similar.
And of course, you may NOT use any of the previous examples.
I will allow Dog's TR series though, as they were new, so we start with a nine, someone.
I suspect without the Renaults this time, we're pretty stuffed from the start, but hey, some like a challenge.
I also suspect this will finally kill this thread....

So I think that's back to 65. There were 3 race cars in there (but one trike substitute). I hope VxFan is happier.
So next is a car with 66 in the model/trim level. And don't say it can't also be trim level because it started with XR3i and that was the trim level of a Ford Escort.

But assuming we can have a few race cars (they are cars) we are back to where we were number wise or thereabouts. And yes some of the models I used reference engine designations but the XR3i was a spec/trim level too. So don't change the rules again. :-)
|
I guess someone enjoyed playing that game.

Blinking flip, Rob! Well done, and yes, racing cars are allowed, as are all your choices.some interesting ones in there.
Diversion - I remember watching my then four year old niece playing a board game (called One For The Pot, for full clarity) with her highly intellectual dad. He got terribly and genuinely cross because she kept doing things that "weren't in the rules". She cried. I think at that point I decided rules were not always necessarily perfect.
So yes, crack on. We don't want tears.

I have tried finding obscure cars when I can. And now evidence they were blue :-)
My uncle has cars nearly that old as classics. They weren't so good on motorways but we did go with him to local shows. So I've seen lots of classics close up.
When I decided to look for some obscure cars I quite enjoyed the searching.

Not been to one this century but, emptied the contents of my stomach onto the fitted carpet at a friends house when I was 12 years 'old'. It was one of his sisters shindigs IIRC.
I wasn't in the habit of drinking alcohol at that age of course (jubblies was more my thing back then) but I must have made a pig of myself I 'spose, and paid the price forrit.
Did the same thing (carpet job) at nephews do when I was about 28-30. I was on whiskey (back in those daze) the barman was piling it into me, I must have downed a bottle and a half - boy was I ill.
TBH, I prefer hashish to alcohol, but not the stuff 'high' in THC that's about these days.
