An acquaintance of mine called at my place recently and I commented on the strangely loud exhaust note from his 2.0 TDi.
He’s had his DPF removed by a local garage.... I’ve no idea why as her drives 18k miles a year, with a substantial commute, although it’s often in stop/start traffic. I passed no further comment, but surely it’s illegal and I don’t see what he gains by this action. Presumably, and this is pure supposition, the garage which ‘removed’ it will pass it on its next MOT, and if he sells it in the meantime, there could be consequences if/when the new owner finds out, even if he part exchanges the vehicle.
Can’t say his actions surprise me......
