Someone seems to think that London is the centre of the universe.

ON - to be fair to Movilogo, his link takes you to a page that contains further links to other sites, one of which deals with nationwide parking, though the other three are London-related.

Oh come on ON ;-) i consider myself fairly patriotic, i'll even paint my face blue and white and go support the lost cause that is the scottish rugby team.

On top of that I really don't like the big smoke and i avoid it like the plague.

But it is the centre of the universe. Where else could be?

Edinburgh? nope.
Glasgow? manky.
New York? Never has managed to catch up with the London financial industry, wont anytime soon thanks to SOX and a couple of other high profile encumbrances on US listed public companies.
Milan? Londoners have got their fashionable side.
Paris? mankier than Glasgow.
Berlin? nah.

I was brought up in London, but it has become a hell hole. I can't wait to get out after a visit. My favorite city is Perth, (the Australian one). I was in Norway last week, some pleasant cities there.

Never been to the Ozzie one yet, on the list of things to do though, definitely.

Always come away from the Scottish one with a smile on my face though. Nice place to be.

London *IS* the capital of the UK, whether one likes it or not.

You are welcome to it, I got out years ago.

So did I, 23 years ago, but some people are prepared to pay over £100m to live there, so it cant be all bad.

That's one hundred million pounds sterling - for one property.

'Sir, the man who is tired of London is tired of life...' etc. To call it a hellhole is a bit sour and misses the point. It contains everything, including hellholish aspects, but it also has elegance, beauty, excitement, variety and everything anyone could conceivably want or need. 'Pleasant' towns are ten a penny in all civilised countries. Spectacular seats of global power, filled with concretised history and able to function well with a population conservatively put at seven million, are relatively rare. If you want to see grandeur spread out before you, anywhere on the river in Central London is good, but a trip on that ferris wheel thingy will really open your eyes if you haven't had one before. At one point in the revolution you can look straight down Downing St.

London also has the enormous distinction of being my birthplace. So let's have a bit of respect from you bumpkins, OK?

It's still become a hell hole. Unfortunately I can remember it as it was 50 years ago. Do you wear rose tinted glasses AC. :-)

Can't we all sweetie... I suppose I should admit that it isn't all that user-friendly without native help if you allow yourself to become a stranger to it ON. In that respect it is much like a small, war-torn, crime-ridden African country. If you know the ropes it's all right, although a bit expensive sometimes.

I visit London several times a year, and can still find my way around without a satnav, (rellies scattered around the Southern bit).

Native help, try and find one, it is often unusual to hear English spoken.

The real Perth is pleasant too, we occaisionally have a "pensioner" wander and lunch there. It's only a 30 minute drive, pity the other one isn't that close, some of the weather would be nice. :-)
