...has got me drooling over these. When my six numbers come up, I'm heading here.

It's sacrilege - taking that iconic flat six out of a 911 and putting in an electric motor.

Your comments echo those of many on You Tube. However I disagree. The car is the icon, not its engine. Whilst I appreciate it will not sound the same without a flat six, many of these classics will eventually be off the road when the black runny stuff starts becoming rarer and then how many of these 'iconic' cars will we see on the road?
Electric is seen as the future for many and if older cars can have a future by going this way then I'm all for it.

When the black runny stuff becomes rare so will the gas that powers many electricity generating plants.

Not that many of us will still be around by then but one hopes that by that time, the stuff that powers generating plants will either be nuclear, solar or large volumes of gassy stuff moving around, otherwise known as wind.

Some are unable to envisage a world that is different to the one they now inhabit. It's difficult to foresee the future but the only thing we can say with a high degree of certainty is that it's going to be very different to the one we live in now. My guess is that the future for travel is autonomous electric cars and better faster and more available public transport. The model of more and more owned and driven ICE car on a limited road network is not a sustainable one.

I agree that the future, say 2040 or 2050 onwards is impossible to predict accurately.
While my guess is probably similar to yours in terms of electric or other non ICE propulsion mainly, I do wonder what the options will be for someone who lives a distance away from loved ones and not in a major conurbation, as I cannot see how railways or other public transport will develop to meet their needs.

My guess is on demand public transport - via phones.. Demand is aggregated and when you ask for transport ,you get a reply saying when or a quote of the minimum extra passengers needed to make it economic..Public transport on fixed routes at fixed time is run as they did steam engines in the 1800s.. The reality is the companies have the capacity to have on demand facilities available NOW but of course many of their potential customers (elderly) don't do mobile phones.

Not to any extent as far as I know, I guess it is a difficult environment for generating machinery of any kind to function. Surprisingly little also appears to me to be made of hydro electric power, which I have always thought is not taken on as much as it could be.
All this talk of electric cars... - Old Navy
Norway use hydro power for most of their heating, cooking, and they have a rapidly developing electric car market. They sell their oil and gas to us and much of Europe. The trick that our lot have missed is tidal power, we have hundreds of locations where tidal power stations could be built, much more reliable than wind generation.
All this talk of electric cars... - madf
Tidal power is great but if you have navigatable waterways in use, not so great.
All this talk of electric cars... - Old Navy
My end of the UK is a bit different to the south, there are lots of little used sea lochs on the west coast and many small inlets with powerful tidal water movements.
All this talk of electric cars... - CGNorwich
It's expensive, needs very specific conditions, especially barrage type systems and like other green energy is not continuous. The system that uses something like underwater wind turbines shows promise and Scotland is a leader in this technology.

I follow James Cooke on YouTube and there's a fella who's mad on EVs and has a Tesla but seems to drive everywhere, clocking up the mileage for the shear hell of it. He seems to travel mainly on motorways stopping of at service stations or nearby shopping centres merely to top up is car and himself with Coffee and junk food.
I don't use or want to use the hell that is our overcrowded Motorways just so I can charge my EV or top up my Caffeine levels.
All this talk of electric cars... - Lygonos
>>I follow James Cooke

Likewise - he can be pretty puritanical about EVs but you get a feel for the practicalities of long-range EV use.

He does home charge so the M'way stops are usually for long distance travel to grandparents etc.

Interestingly the reason he could afford a Tesla is he was an early investor in their stock and made a huge profit which he then sold and bought the car.

Of course if he'd keep the shares he could buy one for himself and his wife now with spending cash left over.

85,000 miles or so in just under 4 years - has had a few mishaps inc 2 new door handles (actuator problems on version 1), complete shutdown after a CPU failed (£500 repair as out of warranty), new rear motor due to shunting (common issue with early RWD motors - warranty fix).

Dents on the body after golf-ball hailstones not really a design fault - looks like a lot was fixed when he had the paint ceramic-ed recently

These may be of interest:

I've sailed the Pentland Firth, tides up to 14 knots so ideal, placing turbines at various locations would surely give constant supply.

Bristol Channel ideal for barrier scheme.

It might be but there are huge environmental concerns and the latest estimate I say was £35 billion pounds. I think the tendency is away form the huge multi billion pound investments into multiple smaller developments.

Perhaps, and I am in two minds living locally, though the geography and the second highest tide range in the world make it ideal.

And if we want to replace carbon fuels we need step change schemes like these, there will be environmental implications though it's cost v benefit.

Its not going to happen any time soon. Here is the summary form the last government study. I have added a link to the whole report.

The key conclusions of the feasibility study are:

• a tidal power scheme in the Severn estuary could cost as much as £34billion, and is high cost and high risk in comparison to other ways of generating low-carbon electricity;

• a scheme is unlikely to attract the necessary private investment in current circumstances, and would require the public sector to own much of the cost and risk;

• over their 120 year lifetime, Severn tidal power schemes could in some circumstances play a cost-effective role in meeting our long term energy targets. But in most cases other renewables (e.g. wind) and nuclear power represent better value.

I transited the Pentland Firth on the surface in an old diesel submarine, when against the tidal flow our speed across the ground was in minus figures even at full speed.

No doubt a Russian sub will founder on an underwater turbine in due course!

Or drop something on them (steel net?) Or is that a fishing boat? Not that submarines do anything sneaky. :-)

It must be really bad form to fart in a submarine. You'd think anyway.

They have a charcoal filter unit the size of an LEC in the ventilation system, a spare set of the interchangeable filters is carried and they are changed half way through a patrol. A fart is no worse than one in a car. :-)

If it was bad form to fart in a sub, then presumably none of the crew would be speaking to each other unless they could hold them in for 3 months.
All this talk of electric cars... - Pat
I've now got a picture in my mind of a sub way down below and ready to surface. The whole crew standing there holding in those 3 month old farts to get it to the surface on the order to 'let it rip' :)

If it's any consolation Ian says I have a weird sense of humour too:)

The ultimate fart is venting the sewage tank to equalise it's pressure, I assure you the charcoal filter on the vent pipe outlet is not up to its job (ie).
All this talk of electric cars... - Roger.
I think that farting is brought on by changing from a vertical to a horizontal position.
Hence smelly beds!
All this talk of electric cars... - TheManWithNoName
So did a bad fart cause the Kursk disaster, I wonder?
