Racist and sexist. Nice one.

But very funny if you take it as it's meant, which we should all start doing again.

It's unbelievable how the adherents of the "religion of peace" hate and subjugate women.

Which religion of peace would that be Roger?
Subjugation is a thread running through Abrahamic religion.

I wonder why women were banned from driving as there can't be anything about this written in koran because when koran was written motor vehicles were not invented.
|
"But very funny."
'S OK for you Pat, by the time they become compulsory on HGVs over here, you'll have retired
;-)

Scania drivers have their own version now......pretty, tasselled curtains pulled half over the side window so they can pose!
Not me, I hasten to add:)

Its disrespectful, perhaps rude, but is it racist? I don't think so.

I agree. Perhaps disrespectful but very funny.

...... an estimated 800,000 or so foreign chauffeurs employed to drive Saudi women could potentially lose their jobs.
some of the world's biggest car makers have started advertising their vehicles directly to women in Saudi Arabia.

If that Cheshire based Scotch bloke looks in he'll probably make some comment about girlie 4x4s. So an even longer waiting list, but I'd flog mine for a decent premium.

Do you mean Scottish? Scotch is whisky. :-)

ON
It was meant as a very TIC disparaging comment after some gentle ribbing by a fellow outdoor enthusiast. Albeit on two wheels rather than two legs.

Obviously the :-) was wasted.

Sorry ON. I've no idea what that symbol means... I took it as some kind of unknown punctuation mark. I didn't recognise it from my 'O' level English Language aeons ago!
Care to elaborate please....

It represents a smiley face.
• The close bracket represents a sideways smile )
• Add in the colon and you have sideways eyes :
• Put them together to make a smiley face :)
• Use the dash - to add a nose :-)

...and eggs. And mist.
But it is always fun to refer to the people as Scotch. I try to make a point of it.

We ought to try and scotch that tendency.

We ought to try and scotch that tendency.

Guess you could advertise it on Mumsnet?
;-)

>> Its disrespectful,
To what/whom? A particular religion.
>>but is it racist? I don't think so.
I'm not sure how being disrespectful to a particular religion falls outside the way the term racist is used today.
Wikipedia:
Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR).[18] The UDHR was adopted by the United Nations General Assembly in 1948. The UDHR recognizes that if people are to be treated with dignity, they require economic rights, social rights including education, and the rights to cultural and political participation and civil liberty. It further states that everyone is entitled to these rights "without distinction of any kind, such as race, colour, sex, language, religion, political or other opinion, national or social origin, property, birth or other status."

I seem to be turning into a liberal wet; sorry. But this is casual sexism, which I do believe to be an issue; and casual racism, likewise.
Brompton: not all parts of all Abrahamic religions.

"Food for thought:"
The writer of that article is a Dr of sociology. Sociology is a pseudoscience; astrology is another.
