Quite understandable with all that effort needed to lift up a gearbox whilst lying on your back .. :-)
I know that because ..
I did (in my mid '20,s) change the gearbox in my Spitfire - in the car park - at work - in my lunch hour - on my own.
Took me the full hour - it was a dry day, so i had the top off, (so was easy to access the topside of the box) and had the car up on ramps, so plenty of room for a fit youngster to manouver underneath.
Friendly colleague came out halfway through, asked "how's it going, can i help?" - I said (something like - ) "fine thanks, i'm ok"
Still remember his face when he looked at the bits lying all around - and said .......... "erm .. ok i'll leave you to it then"
Bless him !
No comparison to a 4WD Rally car of course, but afterwards i was quite proud of myself.
Professional Rally Mech's are the dogs doodahs, unsung heroes all.

I've crawled in and out from under a few cars with a gearbox on my chest, but the last one beat me. Got it out OK, but no longer had the strength to lift it into position so had to rig a lifting system.
I was in my sixties.

Same here. I used to take my gearboxes out an in quite easily, and did a few for friends. I've dismantled a few to replace ball races etc, and even once long ago canibalised two gearboxes to use the best bits.
But replacing a clutch on a Triumph straight six finally beat me - it's a hefty brute, and the extra overdrive unit isn't light either - so I took it to a specialist. It was just was well, because he had to fit and remove it several times to get the clutch withdrawal shaft and carrier adjusted correctly.
When the Landrover needed a new clutch I didn't even think about doing it myself - the gearbox with transfer box weighs about 2 cwt.

Those Avants still look nice!
